The Long Table · Draft — pending legal review · Updated July 2026

The short version

The Long Table is private by default. We don't create an account for you, never ask for your name or email, don't sell your data, run ads, or track you across apps. Your profile stays on your device. To make the app better, we keep anonymous, aggregate counts — what brings people here and the questions asked — that can never be tied to you. Your faith background is included only if you opt in.

What stays on your device

Your profile — your name, where you're coming from (faith background), what brought you here, your default readers, and your saved/recent questions — is stored locally on your device, with no account. You can edit or clear it anytime in your profile, and deleting the app removes it. (Separately, we keep anonymous totals — see “Anonymous, aggregate stats.”)

What's sent to generate a reading

When you ask about a passage, topic, or verse, the text is sent to a third-party AI service to generate the readings, and we keep an anonymous count of that question (see “Anonymous, aggregate stats”). We do not send your name or your faith-background profile with it. Your questions are never used to train AI models. Nothing is ever sent in the background — a question leaves your device only when you ask it.

Anonymous, aggregate stats

To understand who the app reaches and what people are curious about — so we can serve you better and cache common answers to keep costs down — we keep anonymous running totals: what brought people here, the questions asked, which readings get shared (and to which platform), and (only if you opt in) the mix of faith backgrounds. These are counts only. We don't store your name, an account, a device ID, an IP address, or a timestamp, and there is no way to tie any of it back to you or build a profile. We never sell it. Faith-background sharing is off by default; you can leave it off, in your profile.

Bible text

The in-app Bible uses public-domain translations (World English Bible, King James, Bible in Basic English). No licensed translation text is stored or transmitted by the app.

Links to other sites

“Modern Voices” recommendations and support resources open external websites, which have their own privacy practices we don't control.

Subscriptions

If you subscribe to Long Table Plus, the purchase is handled by Apple. We never receive your payment-card details.

Your choices

Opt out of sharing your faith background, edit or clear your background and readers in your profile, delete individual journal entries, or delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.

Children

The Long Table isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
